Will not boot up, completely dead

Hello,

Bought as non working with broken screen and would like to repair. When charger is connected I get a green light and then orange as the battery is charging. Try to start but only get power to the hard drive which spins up and keeps spinning (no lights or other activity no power to keyboard. When trying to start with just battery the hard drive spins up for 5 seconds and then stops. No signs of liquid damage or major impact damage. Have re-seated each connector on logic board one at a time and tried to start but get the same.

Am open to try anything as I've nothing to loose,

thanks

A lot of unknowns here. Try hooking it up in Target Mode via a firewire cable to another Mac. Start your machine up holding the key down. Run Disk Utilities from the other machine. You may have to install a system. Next hook it up to an external monitor and see what you get. Let us know your results and we can proceed.

I have a macbook pro mid 2009 17 inch that does about the same thing, and I noticed my isl9504 appears to be burnt out completely!
