Swapping Hdd from one MacBook to another

Hello,

I have a 2006 MacBook 1.83 processor with 4gb ram and sshd which is not powerful enough for the software I'm using. I've picked up a bargain 2007 2.2 processor which I would like to swap the Drive and ram over into. Is it as simple as swapping or will I need to reformat the Drive an reinstall the OS X? Cheers

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Can you give us a bit more here on what the exact model is you bought.

While the older MacBook's & MacBook Pro's used 2.5" HD's the OS-X version needed per a given system may require you update the OS for it to work which in turn could cause your apps not to work anymore which is why we also need to know what OS you are currently using and what the new system needs.

My current 2006 MacBook has OS X Lion 10.7.5, I'm not bothered about apps as I just want to install the sshd in the newer 2007 MacBook. I don't have any installation discs for OS X but I do have an external drive with it on, however the newer MacBook has 10.5.8 and I've read you need to install snow leopard before lion, so I was hoping I could just swap the drives. Thanks

It's like bluetack but it sets in place, you may be able to wrap it round the damaged area and should be ok with that, you could also cover it in electrical tape. Not sure how permanent these solutions would be but worth a shot for minimal cost.
