I have no idea why they started asking for that. Just call them up at 800-MYAPPLE. Tell them your not sure when your mothers birthday is, so why should you have to remember when you bought an electronic, it's a totally unreasonable expectation and you resent it. They know when you bought it and asking for a purchase date is only a ploy to deny their obligation to provide warranty service. It's some BS dreamed up by an Apple lawyer.
