Won't restart after recharging, image sends me to Apple support

I haven't used this in several years; I toggled the on/off switch, then held down both center white button and top Menu during charge; a weird charging icon came up, then a small internet link to Apple iPod support, which told me nothing for my situation. Any ideas?

http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Broken-iPod gives you all different options in how to try to fix your ipod. I have had similar issues with mine in the past and of course, I always try Apple's 5 R's first http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_r... I would probably change the battery first and then have a closer look at the hard drive. Try to put your iPod into disk mode as directed by the first site. Good luck and let us know how you are progressing and what works and what doesn't so we can continue to help.
