Epson Xp 420 using too much ink!

I was receiving error message that black ink cartridge not recognized (this is USED printer I just purchased). I purchased a whole new set of cartridges and this fixed the problem after running Head Cleaning two times. Now it prints fine.

HOWEVER, my ink is now very low and I just bought it (to the tune of $40). Black ink is less than 25% and the three others are at about 50%. Is this due to the head cleaning? If not, can anyone explain it?

Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @sullivt6, I had an older epson AIO printer, it does consume quite an amount of ink to flush and clean the printer head.

Open up the print cartridge..... if there is more, one hack you can do is to purchase a ink resetter device.

Ink jet printers use a lot of ink to clean the print heads. The manufacturers sell the printers for a low price, the ink cartridges that come with the printer are not full. The manufacturers make more money selling ink cartridges than the cost of the printer. If your printer does not need to clean the heads very often then you are lucky.
