What is the better option about to fix a logic board?

Hi, i had a issue with my display (MacBook Pro i7 mid 2012) and i took to apple repair centre thinking it was a display problem because the screen was black and all other things were working properly.

But it was discovered there is a fuse (or other name I don't remember exactly it's name) damaged in logic board which "gives" bright to display. Which I think it's true because if i put a strong light in Apple's logo i can see things in display.

Then I realized how expensive is replace this part and i was looking for alternatives. I found a site (powerbookmedic) which says i cand send this board only to repair. It's half price of take a new logoc board from Apple, but does it a good option? Has anyone had a similar problem and took them to repair? What to say about repair a logIc board?

Is this a 13" or 15"? Is it the Retina model? How much is your repair quote and what are they saying they will fix? Did you ever get any artifacts on the screen?

This is a 13", Model A1278 (isn't retina model). Here in Brazil by an Apple repair center it costs $770, but we know they will replace the entire board. I checked at powerbook medic and they asks for 325$ no matter what issue have in board, even if is just a fuse replacement.

You're good here. You might find someone in Brazil who can service the logic board for less. Sadly, I just don't know who.

If you can see your desktop icons using a flash light then the backlight fuse link or the WLED driver is burnt (or both).

Yes, you'll need to find someone who has the skills and access to the needed parts. PowerBook Medic is one option.

I checked that and their comments too. However talk to them is a hard task. I was in chat with a attendant and i did not liked how they answered my questions. It's hard to understand why any kind of damage repair is $325 if a genius Bar told me is just replace the backlight fuse link, which by the way costs less than $10 in their site.

Because they reside in New York and people expect stuff to be finished in one day and the rent costs are high there.

Pricing will be different based on where they are at.

You may want to look at other options if you want to pay less or are up to the task.

Your lucky that the genius Bar told you that. They would usually offer a replacement MacBook price / logic board for like $900 or something.

The genius Bar told me that, but from them i can replace only, no repairs. And the price for replacement it was $770. It worth pay this amount for repair a Macbook Pro 2012, 13" i7 processor? (This price is here in Brazil i have no idea in US, but i think a logic board of it's not less than $500
