Why is my iPod screen frozen?

why on my ipod screen only shows a cord and a disk that nsays itunes,and cant do anymore but to turn it off?

Options

Go to your itunes screen and hit the restore button... Then replug it back into itunes and that should work OR hold the home and hold button at the same time to restart it
