My screen backlight comes on instead of displaying an image (sometimes

I bought a iPhone 6s with a broken screen and I changed it with a good quality new one . I factory reset it and restored it through my computer . When I click the lock button it sometimes does display the screen properly and the touchscreen works when testing it , but when I lock it again and try to unlock it the backlight only turns on and the screen displays no image .

I have tried another two screens for the 6s which work with no issues on other 6s phone I have repaired but the same problem occurs. This has never happened to me before and I'm not sure what to do now , I hope you guys can help out here, thanks .

If I understand correctly, you don't really know if this phone worked properly before you bought it. It is possible that the LCD drive circuit is damaged. This could be caused by impacts/drops, water damage or prior repair attempts.

Because you have tried 2 known-good screens, I would suspect the problem is on the logic board. Can you tell us more about the history of this device?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply .

I did not know if the phone worked properly in the past to be honest and the phone seemed like it needed a simple screen replacement, but that seems like it's not the case in this situation .

The LCD connector on the logic board looks fine when looking at it but the water damage indicator has turned red near the location of the wifi antennas.

Also the phone was in good condition on the exterior and the only problem was the cracked screen .

If the issue is located in the motherboard then what's my best solution to try and fix this issue .

Thanks for your help .

A professional repair shop that does water damage repair may be able to recover your phone because they have access to pro-level ultrasonic baths and specialized cleaners as well as the skills to troubleshoot your board. Many shops have a no fix/no fee policy so you don't have to spend money to find out if the phone is fixable or not. You can check out my profile but there are also a few other micro-solderers that are active on this forum as well.
