I would try to reset it. You will have to have the door open. It can not be latched. Press "Heated Dry," "Normal," "Heated Dry," "Normal" within three seconds of the first pressed button. Now close the door, this should reset your dishwasher.

My Whirlpool Gold Quiet Wash Plus, GU940SCGQ3, serial # FL0625375, does not have a “Heated Dry” button.

Other than the six buttons under “Wash Cycles”, there are two to the right of those, under “Options”, labeled Power Scour and Air Dry (which has press 5 seconds to Lock/Unlock controls, underneath it),

The only other button, basically in the center of the panel, is a Cancel/Drain button.

The “China” button, under Wash cycles, when pressed, will light, and also the Cycle Status light below “washing”, and washing commenced.

Went through wash and then rinse. I pressed the “Air Dry” button while rinsing, hoping to avoid a longer cycle of heated drying, and the light above the button came on, although very faintly.

On what I guess was the second rinse, the light below “water heating” came on, right next to the “rinsing” light, under the cycle status heading. (still faint Air Dry light under “Options”, and after a few minutes, water heating light went out)

Felt rinse water at disposal/drain and it was hot!

At completion, the faint Air Dry light was out, but “Drying” under Cycle Status was lit, so maybe I didn’t avoid the longer heated dry, which appears to be the default setting.

The “China” under Wash Cycles also remained lit.

Noted pretty warm air coming from vent at left of latch handle while waiting for Dry cycle to end.
