New Dishwasher won't drain water at end of cycle

I just replaced an old Fridgidaire dishwasher with a new Fridigdaire Gallery model. The old dishwasher was working fine for years and then recently started to hold water at the bottom. After I replaced it and ran a cycle in the new model - the same thing happened. The dishwasher did not drain. I checked the new hoses and all of the new parts look fine. I disconnected the drain hose to the disposal and discovered its tightly plugged. What's weird is, its not a new disposal and the previous dishwasher was working fine for a long time. Am I wrong to assume the picture is the knockout plug? If so, is it possible for the old dishwasher to work with that in there?

Here's how to take the plug out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma1onauy...

What can happen is that the line to the sink aerator joins the line from the disposal before it gets to the vent. So when the water gets pumped out of the dishwater it goes up that line and crosses over. You may have noted water coming out of the air vent at times. When it finishes, the water in that line flows back into the bottom of the washer.

Yes, Mr Mayer has described the problem that I experienced. My sink aerator was clogged with debris from the dishes and my son's long red hair. I told him to stop washing his hair in the dishwasher. Now I need to clean out the aerator less often. :)
