WHy is my screen so loose?

I have a 2014 13" MacBook Air and the screen has been extremely loose for quite some time now. If it goes beyond 100º or so it will fall backwards, but when it is being closed, it will not fall closed. Please help! its so difficult to do homework with a computer screen that keeps falling down. I'm not sure if i should take it to the apple store if they will fix it or if it will be easier and cheaper to do it myself. Thanks so much!!

Answer this question I have this problem too

It sounds as if the hinge part of the LCD has came loose. You may be able to try and take the lid off and follow the steps to get to the LCD itself. I have had quite a few people with MacBook airs come in with the same issue. It could have came loose (as why its not staying up) and it was as simple as fighting it back up.. :)

beth, yes, copy and paste. I'm a moderator on the site and just trying to offer you constructive criticism. Answering questions well is a learning process just like anything else in life. You're doing fine ;-) Oh, what do you prefer being called? If the store you work with has an web presence, please post a link in your profile. Also list your specialties. Join the Pro site for parts discounts and conversations with the pros. If you are comfortable with sharing more about yourself the iFixit staff has some good examples on doing that. A couple of the customer service people that you will get to know are Kelsea Weber @kelsea and Kay-Kay Clapp @kaykay. Click on their links to see their profiles. The hinges are likely lose. I have fixed this problem on Sony Vaio and Dell laptops, now will try to repair my macbook air as soon as I get the 5-star screwdriver. Great video tutoring here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLSd_UA-...,

Many computer problems can be easily fixed and, if the warranty is over, the risk/reward is usually worth it.
