Activating Active 2 Pen with Lenovo Yoga &20

I recently purchased the Lenovo Yoga 720 which came with a Active Pen 2 stylus.

If I double click on the top of the pen it takes me into whatever app I have it programmed to (so this bit works) but I can't write on the screen. I cant even calibrate it as when I touch the screen with the pen nothing happens. I can touch the screen with my finger and it seems to write fine... just cant get the stylus to work...... Suggestions please.

Did you manage to solve this issue? I have the exact same issue with my Yoga 720. It pairs with the laptop and the button activates apps but it does not recognise the pen strokes.

Funny enough I just had the AAAA batteries in the wrong way but I had the Bluetooth battery in correct. The pen doesn't display the +/- sign all to well so try flipping the AAAA battery around. I hope this helps

I have tried everything I can think of, for the yoga 920. I have 2 of the active pen 2 and neither of them work. It works fine with my finger but not with the pen. I've tried using the windows 10 settings, I've tried downloading the app, downloading a new driver, rotating the battery, calibrating - but it won't calibrate. It pairs with the blue tooth no problem but it will not write on the screen at all

Hi @jbird258 ,

Did you check the settings in Lenovo Vantage regarding the pen?

In the features section (scroll down the page) it mentions custom settings for:

Input: Touchpad, Function Key (Fn), Keyboard Backlight, mouse/pen/touch settings.

Just a thought

that's in a non-english language

Hi @jbird258 ,

Bit confused as it says it supports a lot of languages.

Further research indicates that perhaps it is not the best app to have anyway.

Have you tried going to Settings > Pen and Windows Ink > and toggling the "Ignore Touch input when I'm using my pen" setting, to see if that makes a difference?

all you need to do is get a little bit of aluminum foil and rub it on the battery and place it back in. It may sound weird but it actually works. Hope this works for you.

Hi, do you use wacom pen an not ntrig? But if it came with pen it should be proper one.

Maybe just try another pen like Bamboo smart for 2 in 1 devices. Or try different application. Or reinstall drivers (wacom feel driver). Or change batteries in pen. Also doublecheck windows active pen settings in pointing devices.

Yoga on market in my country didn't have pen in box, so I bought Bamboo Smart. And it works flawlessly.

I am using the Active 2 pen that is supposed to work with my Yoga 920 laptop, I don't know what ntrig is, I tried reinstalling drivers, I checked the windows pen settings, I might have to try the bamboo smart pen, I just ordered the original Active pen, waiting to receive it. thanks for the suggestions

I've found a number of solutions to this online, s for anyone still struggling with this try the following:

1) Pull the nib out and put it back in gently - sometimes it's pushed in too far or too little or the sensors to work

2) The battery level doesn't tell you the AAAA battery level, so the AAAA can be flat, the top button and Bluetooth can continue working but it won't write. Try a fresh AAAA battery.

I now store the pen with the AAAA out of it, it seems to drain over time...

3) Sometimes the connection for the AAAA battery isn't very good so consider adding more length to the spring https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/comments...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPx8zw6X...

- Open the active pen

- Get a regular ink pen with an in/out clicker

- Remove the spring from the ink pen

- Cut the spring from the ink pen

- Attach the new spring to the spring already in the active pen

- Close pen and enjoy!
