Red power light is on with no picture. Can not get menu on screen.

My Panasonic Viera th-46 pz800u turns on but there is no picture or sound. With the room lights out the screen does appear to be gray. Menu can not be brought up. Tried manual reset and unplugging but problem still exists.

@klassen36 does the power light blink at all or is it permanently on? How did you reset the TV?

by

Power light is on permanent no blinking. Reset tries; held Menu and Vol - together for 30 seconds, held power button with power disconnected for 60 seconds then reconnected power and cycled the power switch twice. Got these from another site.

@klassen36 try this To Reset the Unit, turn the TV on and while pressing the “VOLUME ( - )” button on the main unit, press the “Menu” button on the remote control for more than 3 seconds.

The Self-Check menu appears on screen. Then, disconnect the AC cord from the wall outlet.

Tried your reset but no joy. As for the fuse I used a multimeter for continuity.

@klassen36 "the screen does appear to be gray" sounds like your backlight turns on. Unplug your set, remove the back cover and take a look at the power board. Do not touch anything yet since the caps are still charged. Could be a shocking experience. Take a look at the power board, there should be 5 fuses on that. Check those for continuity. Post some images of all of your boards with your question. Use this guide for that. It will allow us to see what you see. Right now it appears as if your set is having trouble with the main board.

Update (07/08/2017)

@klassen36 let's start off by considering this a no power/dead unit. Follow the flowcharts and let us know if you are running into any issues.

I only see two fuses on what I believe is the power board. Attached photo of all boards and one of the power board.

by

@klassen36 okay great. Thanks for the images! Let me see if I have the schematic for your TV. You checked the fuses on the board with a meter for continuity? BTW the A board is the one with all the video and audio connections, that is the one I am thinking would be where your troubles originate

by

So I flowed the flow chart and I have 3.2 Volts at pin 11 of P25. So this means the A board is gone? Are these expensive?

by

Sorry the flow chart says P board.

by

@klassen36 usually around $100USD depending on where you get it from. If you can post the PCB number etc. on your board I could assist you with that.
