Why are there colorful vertical lines on half my screen

Today i was in target and dropped my phone on the tile floor face down, when i picked it up at first it was fine and then a couple of minutes later when i turned it on half of the screen was showing vertical lines with a thin strip of black at the edge of the screen. now about 10 hours later there is more black on the screen and the half with lines is unresponsive. What should i do, today is friday and i have booked an appointment with apple for tuesday but i can not get on my phone and was hopping there was something i could do that would help sooner. please help.
