Dropped iPhone- checked connectors-Replace entire display or just LCD?

Ok, my husband dropped his iPhone 3G today and the screen is white with a black stripe down the right side and a few colored stripes here and there. I took the screen off and checked all of the connector cables. The #1 cable comes off VERY easily (all you have to do is pull the screen up past 45 degrees and it comes off), so I imagine that is where the problem lies. The phone itself is working fine. It can receive a call, make a call, it syncs to iTunes, etc. The only problem is the screen.

Should I replace the entire display system or just the LCD? I'm not sure which is actually broken.

Leah,

If the digi glass isn't cracked or broken it is likely that it is just the LCD, however if it were me I would replace the entire thing. That is the easiest way to do it as it is the entire assembly and pretty much plugs and snaps in. They are $99 here:

You should be able to do it in a matter of a few minutes since you have already had/have it apart.
