Why does my monitor have a purple-ish tint and freezing?

So I have a 23 inch AOC monitor whic I bought from gumtree not long ago. The owner didn't know about the issue so he refunded me and let me keep the screen. Now I just want to fix it so I can use it. It has a purple-ish tint and it freezes like every 5 seconds. The top part of the screen doesn't freeze. When the screen freezes, the pixels become a lot more visible than before. What could the issue be?

Edit: I think the model is AOC i2367f 23"

Update (08/18/2017)

Hey everyone!

I have just opened the monitor and before I did my monitor worked fine for 5 minutes, then it just started freezing and had the purple tint again. I have opened it and stuff seems normal. I tried disconnecting the speaker (it was just in the way and I don't use it) and the display cable to clean it. Didn't work.

Any help is appreciated

Esben V it is possible that this is caused by a bad driver board on your panel. You wan to remove the back of your panel and take a look at the boards. See if you find any obvious failed items like leaking or domed caps etc. Post some images with your question. Use this guide which will allow us to see what you see. Most common issue with the purple screen and partial freezing of the screen is directly related to the panel

Thank you! I will try your solution as soon as I get home from vacation :)

I had a feeling it could be the HDMI input on the monitor. Do you think it is?

It could be but I doubt it because of your symptoms. Try another input as well. Let us know what that shows.

Simply looks like a loose internal cable to me. The contacts that make up the upper part are touching but the lower connections are loose. So open it up and make sure all connections are nice and tight.

Hope this helps!
