Phone won't connect to the network

iPhone works fine, except as a phone! It either says: searching... or SOS only. Occasionally it finds the Telstra 4G network, but then drops out a few hours later. Repairs man says he's tried re-soldering something, but it didn't work. What can I do?

Usually before I recommend opening a device especilly soldering, I’d try a new SIM card. Especially If when you eject your sim your phone immediately displays “no sim”. Can be a bit of a hassle at some places to get a new sim so a trick that has worked for me in the past, is removing your sim and cleaning all the contacts with a pencil eraser, for a few minutes. If you don’t have any luck with that after you’ve restarted the phone a new sim would be the next best step. Best of luck!
