n8 sim card slot pin replacement

Hi there, got this phone a few days ago and tried to use a microsim with it (certainly not supported).

In the process of pulling it out from the sim card slot, it seems both the spring (push/pull) mechanism got stucked or broken.

Does anyone knows a way to fix or replace the whole slot? I ve googled for replacement parts any didnt find any :(

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Nahum looking at the teardown I do not think that your sim card slot is replaceable. It looks like it is a solid part of the logic board Nokia N8 Teardown my best advise would be to disassemble it and see if you can get the pins straightened out if bend and to see if you can get the mechanism fixed.Of course do NOT do it if your phone is under any kind of warranty. Could be a case for Nokia carepoint. Just my 2 cents....Good Luck

Hi there,

I have an exactly same problem.

I bought an replacement sim holder and opened the phone.

I have had a good look on it and it seems very hard to replace.

Did you fix your phone?

I agree, it is a hard task that might involve some soldering skills.

I just ordered mine the day I posted the link. but I already know that I will have to go that path as my current sim holder is no good. I'll let you know the outcome.

It is not a very nice solution, but it can be done on the way they do it in the next movie on:

Way I see it is if its toilet flushable now, then I may as well work on it. Being I cant hurt

It. Who knows I may just fix it and, if I dont im sure I'll learn something for trying. Flushing it would be money down the stinky drain.. If I cant fix it I'll tear it down and, sell it for parts on ebay. Battery is $10 / screen $25 / mother board with out a sim holder $20 / lcd screen $20/ two piece back cover with screws $15/ thats enough to bye another phone almost. Hey im a mom of 3 I dont flush money, christmas is coming...
