PS button stopped working, membrane contacts still work with finger

For starters, I don't actually own a PS3. I only use this controller on my PC and Samsung phone. So any troubleshooting that involves using a PS3 won't be possible for me.

The PS button on my Dualshock 3 stopped working, which is pretty annoying when I want to connect wirelessly, since the only way to do it now is to plug it into my PC and unplug it to activate the wireless "search" mode. This also makes using the controller on my phone outside of my house impossible unless I have a PS3 or PC with SCP Toolkit drivers near me.

I took apart the controller to see what's up. What's strange is that if I touch the contacts on the membrane with my finger, the button registers, albeit in a flashing manner (all the buttons do that when you touch them with your finger instead of using the rubber). If I try using the rubber of another face button on top of the contact, like the Start and Select or the Dpad, it still doesn't work. I also tried a tip I found online to rub the bottom of the rubber with a pencil to add conductive material, but it still doesn't work.

It's really frustrating since I know there should be some kind of fix. The button still registers when not using a rubber. All the other buttons work besides the PS/Home button. Could anyone here give me a clue as to how to fix this?
