What is this movable diaphragm in the bottom of the speaker for?
Taking this speaker apart to put in a Fanny pack and I was curious what the diaphragm in the bottom does for the speaker.
Is this a good question?

It’s a “passive radiator”: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive_ra...)
I assume this was chosen over a ported design because it doesn’t require a hole where water could get in. :)

It's what you call Passive radiators. Passive radiators are used in Bluetooth speakers, home stereo speakers, subwoofer cabinets and car audio speaker systems, particularly in cases where there is not enough space for a port or vent system.
