@dimbie could be the backlight. turn your camera on in a dark room, use a flashlight and angle it against the LCD screen. See if you can make out anything i.e. Menu etc. After that check the power on the backlight connector FP9004 with a multimeter and see what you get. The backlight is a separate item as shown on here Let us know.

Ok thank you for you reply

I shall try this today

All the rest of the buttons work on this camera but like I said

Replaced with a new screen but still black

Hopefully I can see menu

Would a factory reset help

I also have a Panasonic lumix tz61 with a system focus error

Which might be a little tricky for me to do

Kind regards

by

@dimbie, factory reset would not resolve this if it is a failed backlight.

by

If the failed back light had no voltage going through it I could understand

But there is voltage 2.4volts

I just wondered if the LCD had been turned off by accident

Or the lighting settings we're turned off

Just wanted to know if there is a factory reset on the camera

Was even prepared to guess in the black screen mode by counting

How many beeps to reach the factory reset setting

But I am unable to find the reset

Do you have any other solutions

Thank for your time and help

Kind regards

by

Since you have power to the backlight, I am assuming on the connector I pointed out, your backlight should be working. It does sound more like a backlight failure. Let me see if I can find anything about a reset.

by

I can understand your point

Even though the voltage is reaching to the connector

Maybe it is the wire not sure

Maybe it was not the screen in the first place just the back light wire

But because I brought a new screen I have not brought a new back light wire

But the back light wire is quite robust tough in our words

So this is why I have not brought one

It is annoying I would like to find out what's going wrong with this camera

I have fixed many camera's in my time and binoculars

But this is the first time a have tried with a digital camera

Hi Every body,

I have exactly the same problem. I bought a new lcd screen with backlight but it’s the same.

In certain condition I can see the screen without the backlight but it’s difficult, I’m really interesting by a solution because I can’t use anymore my camera like this.

Kind regards

Hi there

I have sold many cameras on eBay

User name jakejim

My help to you would be to buy a backlight wire for your Panasonic camera

I managed to take this camera completely apart to fix a lens problem

Which took me a while due to the amount of screws

This camera has two wires on the back screen

Hope this helps your question

If you are still stuck then take a visit to my eBay page

I may have another camera on there for you

Kind regards

The LCD monitor went black on my Panasonic DMC-FX200. I could still see images through the viewfinder. After many days, I realized I had inadvertently pressed the EVF/LED button. By pressing that button again, now works.
