Why am I getting these various symptoms on my iMac?

Symptoms: Keyboard keys not responsive: o,u,i,j,k,l,m

And: F1 gives me "Searching This Mac"

F2 gives me Spotlight

F3 to F8 gives me nothing. No effect on anything

F9 causes desktop windows to be separated laterally.

F10 causes desktop windows to be separated vertically.

F11 causes open windows to disappear in the top of the desktop

F12 gives the widgets screen.

I have connected a new keyboard and get the same symptoms when the new keyboard is paired. This tells me something is wrong with the iMac itself.

These symptoms appeared when the #%#%^& MacKeeper was finally eliminated from the computer.

Any suggestions on the cause?

I would suggest getting a Paid version of Anti-virus such as Symantec endpoint Protection, Norton Security or WebRoot.

If your current anti-virus did not pick up MacKeeper, it is not doing the job.

Here's the class Action Law suit on that Software:

I detest all this type of software that claims to clean your Mac. You have no idea of what it actually doing.

Can you enlighten me on which component of the Mac I should replace? Or how do I isolate the bad component?

The user. I believe your problem is software related obviously. You can try a system reinstall first.

mayer, I could have sworn I had both rebooted and reinstalled earlier, but I truly can't remember what happened...so I'll do it again. If it is software related how do I fix it?
