PS3 controller: shot or not?

As the title suggests, there's something wrong with my controller. I haven't used or turned on my ps3 for months so... what gives?

I have looked above and beyond google but i can't find any answers that have worked.

I replaced the battery, pushed the reset button, checked to see if it was dirty, made sure the motherboard wasn't harmed, and made sure there was no water damage (it's been in a dry place this whole time, with the rest of my consoles) and... nada. nothing.

My PS3 works but the ps3 controller seems to acting temperamental.

The odd and annoying thing is is that when i plug it into my computer, the computer recognizes that a controller has been plugged in. My problem is that... it's acting as if its dead. I.E. the red light refuses to come on.

Do i need to go out to gamestop and buy another $50 controller?

And yes, my warranty is over.

Please help?

The only thing that i can even consider being the problem is that i just haven't waited for the controller to actually charge the new battery...just a theory on why the red light hasn't popped up.

But yeah is my controller shot or what?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

could well be a dud battery - your pc will recognise the controller without a battery in it.
