1998 Ford Expedition 4x4 5.4L Brake line came apart

I just changed my brake pads and in the process the caliper came detached from some line and all the brake fluid started squirting out. What the heck just happened???? Lol. It has some sort of nipple and I am able to insert it back into the hose but it keeps coming apart when I press on the brakes.

Thank you

@mrfig, Fabian, You did not state front or rear, regardless, do not try to re attach that old brake line, hydraulic pressed on fitting is broken/ripped from hose and will have to be replaced with a new brake flex line/hose assy.. You can look up replacement part on line or just pop into any local auto parts dealer and they will have or can get you a replacement flex hose/line quickly. Links below, installation instructions of brake flex hose/line and bleeding the air from brake system,4th and 5th are possible part needed as an example. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Thanks and apologies. It is the front driver side brake line. I wish there was a way to post a pic to be able to let you see what I am talking about.

Thanks again

My front driver's side brake line came off when I just pulled up at my house thank you Lord for watching over me and my daughter it goes into like a rubber hose so does that mean I have to replace that whole line

Left front rubber line from frame to caliper came apart. 2000 Lincoln Navigator 4wd. The part on the caliper. Had about a three inch long metal line with double flare on the end coming out of the rubber part connected to the caliper. The other part connected to the frame had a sleeve on the end of the rubber line connected to the frame. Came apart coming up to stopped traffic on a bridge. Car came to rest between car in front of me and the guard rail. No damage to anything. I thought the read brakes should have stopped better. They slowed the car down to a coasting stop. I shoved the metal part back into the rubber sleeve and I cannot pull it apart. The only way that failure of the line coming apart is if the compression holding the two parts together was not sufficient .
