We'll need more information to give you any kind of guess as to the answer. What kind of router/networking hardware are you using? Have you successfully connected any other wireless devices? Do you know your wireless network password? What is the exact model of your laptop? What operating system? Assuming it's some version of Windows, can you find the entry for the wireless adapter in Device Manager? Give us as much background as you can, and we'll see if we can help.
