Well, walmart probably wouldn't have what you need. But you dont need to go.

Now you say you already have a router, then your fine. All laptops have wireless internet preinstalled, you just need to connect to your wifi network.

Since we dont know what router you have, google "how to set up wifi on (insert your router here)" and you will find results on how to set up your wifi.

I was told a dual band router was needed, but I will google Camerons suggestion I guess we'll call it a "Motorola router" right? thats the name on the router sitting on the floor next to the drive unit

You would want to find your specific router's model number aswell. If your router doesn't have wifi (which it should unless its REALLY old) then you need to go and buy one, but any router from about 2005 and up should have built in wifi.

Cameron's help really needed now cuz the router is an SB5120 Motorola router already setup to my parents COX Cable internet access, so lets get this ASUS LAPTP NOTEBOOK PC internet access now pleeeez

Ok. Go to walmart and get a cheap wireless router. Hook up the internet that goes to your parents computer to the input of the router and then use the cable in one of the outputs to the computer. Then set up wifi which should be in the instructions for the router and then your laptop should be able to connect to the new wifi network and you should be all good!
