No signal when battery connector bracket

I have repaired numerous iPhone until now, but this problem occurred the first time. After replacing the screen everything worked fine, except it did not get any reception. It only said "Searching...". So after some research and trying different fixes that did not help I removed the battery connector bracket (this thing: iPhone 6 Battery Connector Bracket). And voilà it worked again. After replacing the bracket it dropped signal again though. I did some testing by removing and reinstalling again and by now the signal seems stable with the bracket installed. I couldn't find anything in Google about this issue. So I just want to make sure that when I had the phone back to it's owner it will not drop signal in a week or so. Has this happened to anyone else and hows of a fix for this? Would be highly thankful!!

There's an antenna cable that plugs near the battery connector. Did you check if that was loose?

by

Yes I did, and it is fixed. You me the small round one, right?

by

Tell your client about the issue and if it occurs, bring it in and you will fix it for free.

Yes, that's I thought, too. I let it sit for a while to see if it's a permanent fix, at least for the time I still have it, but unfortunately, after some time it lost signal again. So I found out when I remove the left screw of the bracket it gets signal again. But then I don't really just want to leave it out since the battery connector sits underneath it... this is really weird.

Try not making the screw so tight. It might be putting strain on something. There could be a damaged trace that gets broken with the screw is in due to pressure.

This is a common issue with the iPhone 6, when the phone will show searching do a quick check of IMEI with the *#06# , if you see the imei number the problem comes from the antenna if nothing shows you have a motherboard problem and there is a more complicated repair to do.

Thanks for the comment! The iPhone indeed does not show the IMEI, it just deletes the *#06# and does nothing. Do you have any idea how to fix this?

by

You cannot fix this without a good skill in micro soldering. @refectio deals more with this kind of jobs apparently, maybe he could complete my answer, I only do micro soldering on iPhones if is a data recovery job.

This seems to be a different problem?

At first you were asking about leaving the bracket screws out and now you are saying it doesn't show the IMEI#...

At any rate, the "no IMEI" issue is usually a baseband issue. This requires a micro-soldering repair and many folks in the community will not do them because of high return rates.
