Replaced battery and now not charging.

I recently replaced the battery in an iPhone 3GS with a replacement battery from ifixit. When I plug the data cable into the phone it shows that the cable is connected however the battery will not charge. I disassembled the phone and then reassembled and the symptoms are the same. The battery is currently in the red zone so the phone will not power on any more. I have tried a USB port and the AC adapter from Apple. I have also tried 2 different cables. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why the battery is not taking a charge?

ok, I spoke to the folks at ifixit and they without question offered to replace the battery. They shipped the replacement priority USPS and it arrived in 2 days. I had the new battery installed in 30 minutes and it came up with a 89% charge. I plugged it in and in no time it was up to 100%. I am extremely satisfied with the service from ifixit and very happy that the phone was not the issue.

Besides the obvious that you already checked i.e. cables etc, did you reset your phone after. Any damage to the dock connector? If all that checks out you might want to take a look at this forum. It does talk about fuses on the logic board and gives the location http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f631/iph... I guess I would check on that. Good luck with your phone and let us know how it is going.
