Constant Reboot when home button is plugged in
So, today I started a repair on an iPhone 7 screen. No big deal, just going through the normal process. Get everything all set up and turn on the bad boy when, wouldn't you know it, the darn thing starts a constant reboot.
"I have had this before. I will just do an iTunes update/restore."
So I get through the update... No remedy. Go through restore. And heck DFU restore at that. Well. I did this to no solution. Decided. I must have missed something. I go to the home button, and unplugged it. Boom! goes right to the start screen. Plugged it back in, now it goes through the reboot process again.
I have checked the cable, and I have checked the connections. All is good. So, what do I do now? I read that we cannot replace the home button, and I really don't want to send this off for a replacement, but, if I have to I guess I will.
Help me Ob1. You may be my only hope.
Is this a good question?

Have you considered the home button extension cable on the screen itself to be faulty?
Might want to try another replacement screen or the old screen (if that was functioning fine).

Are the Volume keys stuck?

To answer the comments, I thought the extension cable may have been bad but I plugged in the old (broken) LCD and that was working prior to my removal. The same problem persisted with the old screen back on. Volume keys are not stuck. I am pretty sure that somehow I just fudged the HB. I had to bite a bullet and just send it over to Apple support. I hope someone figures out a way to bypass the monogamous relationship the Home Button/ Logic board have together so we can give proper replacement opportunities.
Thank you all for your input so far.
