mower will not move with deck on

I have a Huskavarva 1998 24 horsepower riding lawn mower. The mower without the deck starts and runs perfect. With the deck on, the deck engages, but I cannot get the tractor to go into gear to move. Help[ !! Do I have to buy sheep ? My grass is over 8" tall

Does it work when you have it in gear and then engage the blades? What happens. does it not go into gear or does it shut off when it is put into gear.
