Swapping out Hard Drives

My MacBook has a badly cracked lower case. The tape I've been holding it together with so the power adapter will connect is no longer going to cut it. Your tutorial for how to replace the lower case looks intimidating. For about $80 on eBay I can buy the identical laptop. Can I just swap out the hard drives and be back in business?

Thanks! They each have two 1GB SD RAM modules. How many will one MacBook hold? Maybe I can increase the new one by adding the ones from my old one. So appreciate the help.

Each macbook can hold 2 ram sticks. This one can go up to 16gb. So 2 8gb sticks

Chosen Solution

Yes. You can.

You can swap them as they are both macbooks and they are both the exact same system.

Depending on the amount of ram your macbook has compared to the other one, you might want to swap that out too.

Whoa, you don't have enough information on just which machines these are to make this determination. There was this one is the 13"

Apple MacBook Pro "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13" Mid-2010 Specs

Identifiers: Mid-2010 13" - MC374LL/A - MacBookPro7,1 - A1278 - 2351*

@cam2363 well that narrows it down to three machine from 2008-2010 and they used different RAM

the 2008 used

RAM Type: PC2-5300 DDR2

the 2010 used

PC3-8500 DDR3

My point here is to get you to get the facts first!
