flooding when in gage blade

My MTD riding mower runs great.When I in gage the pto the engine starts flooding . I have to drop speed to low until it clears up then it runs good again . I have changed the spark plug and put a new gasket in carb.

tntflaco, Change the spark plug to rule that out. Still sounds like you may have a carb. issue, you may have to disassemble the carb. clean all ports thoroughly and make sure needle/seat are not leaking and float level set correctly, check choke/throttle plates are moving freely in carb. and reset carb. adjustment if able. Also check that the governor linkage is not seizing up with grass/debri(clean and lube). Also ensure all deck pulley's and spindles turn freely by removing belt and spin them by hand. If the OHV valves have not been adjusted in quite some time, you may want to consider adjusting also. Check the links below for more trouble shooting info.. Good luck.
