Bad sound quality when on full volume and really slow speed

I purchased a Sony tcm 11 cassette player recently its quite old so has some issues. The sound when it's turned up to around full it's gets increasingly distored and kind of sounds like a motorbike, you cannot hear the music when it's on full it's juts distorted really bad. Also the sound is really slow I think it could be to do with the rubber bands but just incase it isn't what else can I try? Any assistance would be helpful, thanks.

I opened it up today and messed around with it. The sound seems to be fixed now, it's still slow but I have ordered some replacement bands for it. I also noticed that when I use headphones it only plays in one ear not sure if you know anything about that ?
