blue light then popping noise

Hi,

I brought a faulty 2ds thinking it'd be an easy fix.

I opened it up, checked all the ribbons and they all seem well seated, tried the wifi card & I still get the pop noise.

I looked at the screens with some light & they appear to have some cracks, I haven't taken the motherboard off yet.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

Also, on opening the gate on the home button ribbon I pulled off the grey gate, should it operate fine without it?

Thanks.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Usually breaking the ribbon cable latches is bad, but i don't think the home button should be that bad (try applying pressure while booting). Sometimes components fail without you being able to see (my n3dsxl wouldn't boot because of a non-working screen -no cracks, no rips in the cable), so consider getting a 2ds for parts, so you can test what's wrong with it.
