What do I need to start out a mobile repair business?

I am interested in starting a mobile iPhone repair business where I come to the customers home, office, gym, coffee shop etc. I have been doing iPhone repairs for 3 years now and am 100% confident in my work.

My only question really is what sort of business license would I need to start this? Would appreciate it if someone who has experience doing this sort of thing, or not, could answer.

First thing I would do is come up with a catchy name for your business. Once you have done this you can goto your state's licensing website to apply for a corporation or LLC etc. You should be able to Google your state corporation registration to do this. You can pick your name online and then pay the fee usually around 100.00 and within a day or two you will be official. I would suggest hiring an accountant to help you with this and get the proper corporate structure setup.

Once you have your corporation registered then you need to goto the irs.gov website and apply for an EIN (Employer Tax Identification Number) Contact the county clerks office you live in and ask them if you will need a county occupational tax license in addition to the city. You will need to get both of these.

Here in the states you'll need to get a business license in many cities. As you are selling parts you'll need a State Tax ID so you can pay your sales tax you collect. You'll also need to pay your State & Federal Taxes every quarter (income tax, SS & health)

It is not that difficult to open a phone repair shop but you have to know all the details in order to start one. I think you should start by knowing what prices you will have to figure out how to get a pay stub and put them on the products that you will sell. Secondly, you should calculate how much taxes you will have to pay based on your potential income and the place where your repair shop is going to be located. then all you have to do is work a lot, and I mean a lot!!!
