I have had it for over three years now. I was playing music and the battery went out. I then recharged the battery and the ipod came on but my music was gone.However, the amount of used up and free space has not changed. I am clueless about what to do. Help.

You do have all your music on your computer? What does iTunes (if you are using it) show when you plug your iPod in? If the songs are in that list on itunes, but not on your ipod, you can try a reset (holding down centre button and the menu button at the same time)and see if that will help.
