iMac freezing on startup/booting from usb/cd

Hi!

I have an 24' iMac from 2008.

It started by freezing at startup screen, So I replaced the HDD thinking that was the fault, but the original HDD had no faults with it.

Now when I try to boot it from a USB/CD it freezes at the loading circle ( Can't enter the Resotre program)

Tried an SMC Reset and also a NVRAM reset.

Also tried with different RAM Sticks

But it still freezes.

Any ideas?

Apple Hardware Test does not show any problems either.

What do you mean freezes?

Have you been able to get to the desktop at all?

No, when I try to go into the Installation from the USB, the little spinnig wheel spins for maybe 5 sec then it freezes and restarts after like 5 minutes after freezing.

Please tell us what the diagnostic LEDs are telling you:

All 4 are lighting up when I start it,

I did also try to install Windows on it, which worked without any problems.

See if it will boot from the original system installation DVD. Hold down the C key on start up and insertion.

Unfortunely I no longer have the original dvds, although I did have a LION installation disk, same problem there.
