MacBook Pro 2013 Backlight Flickering after drop!

Hi there,

I am writing today rather worried about my (macbook pro 2013 13" 2.6GHz) on my way back from work yesterday I was forced to break hard, my macbook thtat was currently on the back seat flew forward and hit the back of my seat followed by the floor! I got home and all seemed fine the mac performed well for about an hour before I had to go out. I left the macbook in sleep overnight and when i came back to it, performing the same tasks I had done the night before with no software changes the backlight of the macbook started flickering, I held a torch to the apple logo to ensure that the lcd was still okay, it was, but never the less the screen flickered on off at an alarming rate, I tried restarting the macbook, which fixed the problem tempuarily then continued, I then removed the bottom of the mac unplugged the battery and plugged it back in again and the problem seemed to fade but was still present, I then turned the mac off and put it on charge for a half hour, turned it back on and all currently seems okay, I have had no issue, but am of course expecting it to start any minute. What do I need to do to get this working again and for this backlight issue to cease, in your opinions was it the drop that has caused this or just coincidence and finally, is it a display or logic board issue!?

Thanks for all your help in advance,

Best - Tom

I have a macbook pro since Dec 2016, today the keyboard backlight started flickering while it was on charge, it was only 30% charging that was completed and suddenly the backlight started fluctuating like disco light. I use my macbook carefully, never it has been dropped/damaged. Anyways I will try what you have advised and see if this helps

thanks

Follow this video up to 8:25 to disassemble the LCD assembly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLNUjeUL...

Reconnect the LCD cable and make sure the backlight cable is plugged in firmly, after knocks this cable usually becomes partially disconnected, causing flickering or the backlight to cut out.

I didn't have to do what you suggested in the end, the problem seemed to rectify itself however after doing more research that seems like the perfect solution so thanks to you!
