Keyboard damage due to beer spill

My father (84 years old) has the subject MacBook Pro. He spilled a beer on his computer and now the keyboard keys are literally sticky and have lost their tactile feel and the track pad is not functioning 100% (drag and drop is not working all that great). I haven't had much time to diagnose everything, I only had about 10 minutes with the computer before he left. He lives in a different state.

Is there any way to replace the keyboard and trackpad without the need to replace the entire upper case? Looking for any recommendations you may have on how to proceed. As best that I can tell, the rest of the computer is functioning normally.
