When attached to battery charger no color and shows outline of battery with bottom of battery a black z type charging indicator. It will not charge battery no matter how long left in charger.
When reset tried it shows non color apple icon and flashed to contact apple support.
Does this indicate battery replacement?

yes, this does mean you need a replacement battery. you can purchase it off of this site or ebay.
