Having trouble reseting my cracked screen laptop.

So I'm trying to reset my laptop to factory reset. It has a cracked screen and can't see anything on, so I have it on my pc monitor. And every time I click on "reset my pc" , my monitor goes black and I can't see anything and my screen shuts down and I can't see. Idk what to do
