ram slot (right) not working

machine was freezing (cursor and system freeze) when picked up or moved at all. finally figured out that removing the right side ram chip stopped the problem. tried cleaning the suspected chip with some 99% alcohol which did not fix the problem. both chips were 1GB. tried a 512MB in the right slot with the existing 1GB still the left. received three tone message. "3 beeps = no good banks"

thoughts? i did look through all 25 pages before posting.

if the slot is damaged, can it be cleaned? should i just get a single 2GB chip for the left slot?

it is a 2.4Ghz White A1181

Some times a slot just goes bad. Trying the smaller RAM chip was a good idea, it sometimes works. Yours didn't so just live with the one kidney that's working. That's why STEVE gave you two ;-) I've seen the two GIG work and not work, try borrowing one first.
