Left Speaker pops & looses its bass/mid frequencies

So suddenly my left speaker lost its bass and mid frequencies, and only hi / thin sounds are coming from it. Right one works well.

Sometimes when an hour or two passed in mute, and i start a music , i hear a POP sound from the left side as soon as I higher the volume and quickly it looses its power as described.

Apple has a warranty repair for this! Bring your system in to an Apple Store or authorized service center.

Good Question!

Here's a listing of the local Apple Stores, you'll need to ask one of them.

Outside the Apple warranty is there any other know fix to this problem ?

by

As the system is so new parts are difficult to get.

From what I understand the issue is two fold a firmware issue and a blown speaker from the bad firmware.

All the research I've done says it's a blown speaker or amp issue.

after taking it in to Apple they quote a $600 repair to replace the entire top (keyboard etc) to fix it. If the keyboard has gone they will do it for free while their 2016 keyboard recall is in place. My keyboard is still working fine. There is a Audio Midi Setup App. If you select Built in Output and change the Format: from 44,100 Hz to either of the two choices the sound will come back until the volume exceeds what the speakers or amp can handle and then the sound will degrade again. The Genius bar guy suggested that I call Apple Care to see if I could convince them to repair it gratis or perhaps at a discount because it is a known issue but not covered if your warranty is already expired. I haven't done it yet, I'm holding off of the disappointment and time investment to have this call.

So Apple said my warranty is gone because there is a TINY scratch/damage on the right side that has nothing to do with the left speaker!!!!
