video card failure detected in f12 diagnosis

Dark screen on laptop. Dos self diagnosis worked fine on the screen. GeekSquad says cheaper to replace with new lap top.

Dell Help is no help.

I Would be willing to attempt swap out mother board if available. Any suggestions? Any "how to - - "?

I hate the thought of throwing away this machine.

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/sy... how to remove the mother board. You could try to reflow but that may or may not work for you. There are plenty of companies out that do it but that can be costly as well. I am with you in replacing the mother board. I think it is the better option. http://laptoprepairmanual.blogspot.com/s... another place to download the service manual. Good luck to you.

try and bake the video card, this may seem strange but it resets the video card to good.
