small lights on back & border/effect light/button doesn't work?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't have damage, it stays in the case when I'm not using it. the camera turns on but the only light that works is the timer button. the timer button and the button to take a photo work but the filter and the border lights don't light up or work. still takes and prints photos fine, I just can't change effects or add a border and it's frustrating! cant find anything on it!! please help!
