I was using my mom's macbook pro for a few hours while I watched videos, and all of sudden the screen went black and it wont turn on. I tried to push the power button and nothing. Can anyone please help me get this fixed, she will be home soon and I dont want her to be mad.

It always helps to know the exact model. How hot was it? Most likely an overheated GPU. It may correct after cooling down.

it wasnt hot at all. It was just being used for a few hours and shut down and wont come back on.
Is it the older model A1278 with DVD player built-in? Did you plug in a phone cable then it died? Anyway, take a shot a quick fix: I'd disconnect the power cable, the battery, press and hold power button for 15 seconds, then reconnect battery then try to boot again.

Cameron, @cam2363, try not to be to dense here. Power cable (mag-safe adapter). You're doing an SMC reset. Once you do it and reconnect the battery and mag-safe it will spontaneously reboot. I plugged in my charger and it worked. Thanks for the help. Maybe look at the tags next time

Have you tried resetting SMC? What other signs of life does it have? Fan spin? Green light on magsafe? Battery light indicator?
