No heat, slightly different symptoms than others posted.
Hey all. I have been searching everywhere for an answer to this odd set of symptoms:
Last time I used the dryer successfully was to dry a HUGE blanket on the lowest heat setting. It took two cycles of 90 (timed, not auto) cycles. So that thing ran for about three hours throttling on and off at low setting.
I did a regular load of jeans today and set it to "normal" heat. Checked it when it the timer ran out and it was obvious there had been no heat and very minimal drying.
I removed the panel to observe igniter etc and found that there was no action whatsoever, until I turned it to the highest heat level. At that point, the igniter was bright and the flame engaged, but then the flame shut off after about 3 minutes. I can repeat this without it cooling down. Ignition on high heat, flame out after about 3 minutes.
I replaced the entire duct about a year ago and everything seems good there.
Did I probably just weaken the old gas valve solenoids coils after that three-hour run or are there any other probabilities, given the clues? Obviously, the odd part is that it will only fire on the highest heat setting. Igniter does not even glow on any other setting.
I can't find my multi-meter, so I am going to try the coils before delving in deeper. Any help is appreciated!
Is this a good question?
