The Chevrolet Malibu is a mid-size car manufactured by Chevrolet from 1964 to 1983 and since 1997. The Malibu began as a trim-level of the Chevrolet Chevelle, becoming its own model line in 1978. Originally a rear-wheel-drive intermediate, GM revived the Malibu nameplate as a front-wheel-drive car in 1997.

How To Replace MAP Sensor?

I'm a pretty handy person. I've been getting the "SVC ESC" error message and the check engine light on my 2012 Chevy Malibu LT 2.4L, along with rough engine idle. After doing my homework I need to replace the MAP sensor. I figure easy enough, problem is I have a vague idea where it's located. I've scoured the net trying to find something solid whether a youtube video or forum with some sort of way to pin point or show me the location and a possible how to access the place if not easily obtainable.

pierce2784 @lpfaff1 has answered the MAP however to address the "SVC ESC" error is a different story . This stands for service electronic stability control. this could be caused by a host of things. If you have access to a OBDII with ABS functionality you will find it a great asset in diagnosing the problem . If you have an ABS light on at the same time it could be anything from dirty tone rings to metal filings sticking to the sensor head. It can also be the ABS pump not functioning properly or something as simple as the yaw sensor. Some cars have this located under the passenger seat and occasionally if something gets jammed in under the seat it can affect how it works. It can also be caused by bad struts, a loose swaybar ,bad wheel bearings , seized brakes .or a faulty steering rake. Its hard to narrow it down without a proper inspection . Hope this helps
