Maybe someone hawe knowledge and experience:

Is it possible to upgrade iMac with Core 2 Duo to Core 2 Quad or same of Xeon family for Socket 775? if yes which of quad core CPU's will be more compatible?

You'll need to stick with what Apple used in your systems series. There is more than the socket here.
