the question is simple: where can I find a replacement power supply for my iMac 24" emc2134. It seems very hard to find, even on ebay.

Can you please advise me?

Looks like they are getting hard to find. Not usual for a ten year old part. China was dumping new ones last summer for $26 each.

Look for Apple part numbers 661-4478 and 661-4422. If to high, you may need to rebuild one by replacing the caps.

Is it always the caps that fail in a power supply?

Can I visually check wich one are broken?

No, not always, but a lot of the time. Caps just go. Look for ones with expanded tops or leakage. At about this time there were a great deal of counterfeit caps that got into the market, starting with the last of the G5 iMacs but also in lots of other components.

Is it safe to assume that the "was dumping" for the $26 PSUs means you can't find them at that price anywhere anymore? I can't see anything in particular wrong with the PSU, but the indicator lights basically indicate that no power is getting through.

I haven't looked for them lately because I stocked up.
